Cantunya, named after the legendary Francisco Cantuña, embodies the spirit of ingenuity and resourcefulness in technology. The tale of Cantuña, one of Ecuador's most beloved indigenous folk heroes, tells of a child surviving the destruction of the city of Quito by orders of the Inca general Rumiñahui. He grew up to be a skilled builder and artist, eventually tasked with constructing the atrium of a massive cathedral.

When faced with an impossible task, the faustian Cantuña made a deal with the devil - his soul in exchange for an army of demons to complete the construction overnight. Through his wit and clever thinking, Cantuña managed to save both the project and his soul by removing a single stone from the construction, thereby tricking the devil.
